Human Genome Sciences Inc. (HGSI) reported a net loss of $56.9 million or $0.30 per share for the second quarter, compared with a net loss of $65.4 million or $0.48 per share in the prior year quarter.
Revenues for the quarter increased to $38.8 million from $26.7 million in the year-ago quarter.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.27 per share for the quarter on revenue of $40.62 million. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
