Avnet Inc. (AVT) Monday said it promoted Gerry Fay to chief global logistics and operations officer, effective July 4, 2011. Fay joined the Avnet team via the Memec acquisition in 2005. Concurrent with this promotion, Fay has also been named to the Avnet Executive Board, reporting to President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Hamada.
Fay would assume executive responsibility for Avnet Logistics' global warehousing, semiconductor programming and integration center services, and would continue in his current role, leading Avnet Velocity, Avnet's global supply-chain practice.
In the new role, Fay would also oversee enterprise risk management and the corporate operational excellence function and resources.
