Riots broke out in the southern Italian town of Castelvolturno on Friday after six African immigrants were shot dead in a suspected Mafia attack the day before, said officials.
TV footages showed rioters, armed with metal bars, smashing windows, halting traffic and pelting stones at the police, demanding justice.
They accused the law enforcement agencies of racism, saying that the victims were not mobsters or drug traffickers as alleged by the police.
Six African migrants from Ghana, Liberia and Togo were killed in a suspected Mafia attack outside a shop on Thursday. Two others were injured in the attack.
Police suspect that the attack was linked to disputes between the local Camorra crime syndicate and the migrants involved in drug trafficking.
