Cytokinetics, Inc. (CYTK) said it presented the interim analyses of data from a Phase IIa clinical trial of CK-1827452 in stable heart failure patients at the 2008 Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association in New Orleans. CK-1827452 is a cardiac myosin activator or a cyto-skeletal motor protein that is directly responsible for converting chemical energy into the mechanical force resulting in cardiac contraction.
Data from 28 patients demonstrated statistically significant increases in systolic ejection time and fractional shortening at CK-1827452 plasma concentrations greater than 100 ng/mL. Further, the data from ongoing clinical trial recorded statistically significant increases in stroke volume at CK-1827452 plasma concentrations greater than 200 ng/mL.
