Spain's Industrial Turnover Falls Further In September

Spain's industrial turnover plunged 18.8% year-on-year in September, after the upwardly revised 18.6% fall in the previous month, the Madrid based National Statistics Institute reported on Tuesday. This is the twelfth straight month in which industrial turnover has recorded a double-digit fall.
Turnover dipped 40% on a yearly basis in the energy sector, while turnover in consumer goods industries was down 10.3%. Turnover in capital goods and intermediate goods industries dropped 12.2% and 24.4%, respectively. In the first nine months of the year, industrial turnover plummeted 25.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The statistical office also said that industrial new orders declined 19% annually in September, following the 18.9% decrease in the preceding month. In the January to September period, new orders were down 27% from a year ago.
