Norway Industrial Production Rises For Second Month

Friday, a report from Statistics Norway showed that industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 0.9% month-on-month in September following the 1.6% increase in the previous month. On a monthly basis, industrial production grew for the second month in a row.
Manufacturing production growth increased to 2.2% from 1%, while output in oil & gas extraction decreased 0.1% after the 1.4% rise in the previous month. Electricity, gas & steam supply output grew 6.6%, slower than the 11.1% increase in the previous month. By industrial groups, production of consumer goods and capital goods increased 1.7% and 0.4%, respectively. Production of energy goods dropped 1.3%.
On a yearly basis, industrial production fell a working-day adjusted 1.2% in September, with manufacturing output falling 4.4%. Further, industrial output grew 0.3% in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter, while in the January to September period, output was down 2.9% from a year ago.
