(RTTNews) -  Digital television entertainment services provider DIRECT- Group, Inc. (DTV: News ), Wednesday said it named Michael White its new President and Chief Executive Officer. White previously was the CEO of PepsiCo International and vice chairman of PepsiCo.

In the announcement made by John Malone, Chairman of the DIRECTV said, White would assume his position on January 1, 2000 and has also joined DIRECTV's board of directors.

White joined PepsiCo in 1990 as vice president of planning for Frito-Lay North America and held several positions of increasing responsibility including that of CFO of FLNA, executive vice president and CFO of Frito-Lay International, CFO of Pepsi-Cola Company worldwide and CFO of PepsiCo. Prior to joining PepsiCo, White held executive positions at Avon Products, Inc., Bain & Co. and Arthur Andersen & Co.

White announced his retirement as CEO of PepsiCo International and vice chairman of PepsiCo earlier in September.
DTV is currently trading at $30.96, up $0.03 or 0.10%, on a volume of 12.55 million shares.
