(RTTNews) -  Mobile solutions provider Mobile Messenger said Monday that it has acquired mobile messaging aggregator m-Qube, Inc., from VeriSign, Inc. (VRSN: News ). Further, the company said veteran technology marketer Purandar Das will join the company as chief technology officer for integrating m-Cube as a business unit and will head the integrated Mobile Messenger's technology operations from Boston.

Los Angeles-based Mobile Messenger has obtained m-Qube's direct connections to carriers in the US and Canada, and its entire business delivering standard commercial messaging and premium mobile content to customers throughout North America, according to the terms of the agreement.

Commenting on the acquisition, Michael Iaccarino, president and chief executive officer of Mobile Messenger said, "Our acquisition combines these two forces, links our capabilities directly to US and Canadian carriers, strengthens our commitment to provide full-service mobile solutions and gives our clients the unmatched opportunity to deliver dynamic services and content."

As a result of completion of the transaction, Mobile Messenger holds the majority of the North American mobile messaging market and an enhanced position worldwide. Mobile Messenger's products and services will include full service premium solutions, premium aggregation and standard messaging.

Following the acquisition, m-Qube's Boston office is integrated into Mobile Messenger as a business unit and will serve as the company's global technology headquarters.
The newly appointed Das has more than 16 years of marketing technology experience and has evaluated and introduced new technology and platforms for marketing organizations, the company said. Das has served Eplison for ten-years. Prior to Eplison, he led the creation of Ariba/Supplier Market's high-availability procurement transaction platform.

Mobile Messenger has been operating in the US since 2004, helping companies to develop, distribute and monetize digital content through mobile devices. California-based private equity firm Silver Lake Sumeru holds majority interest in Mobile Messenger.

Monday, VRSN closed at $23.00, up $0.26 or 1.14% on Nasdaq.
