(RTTNews) -  Thursday, Malta's National Statistical Office announced that the registered unemployed stood at 7,521 in September, up from 7,443 in the previous month. A year ago, 6,096 persons were unemployed. The number of unemployed males amounted to 5,801, while the number of unemployed females stood at 1,720.

The agency also announced the registered unemployment rate for May, which was 4.8%, much higher than the 4% a year ago. In April, the jobless rate stood at 4.7%.
