"Star Trek" And Special Edition "Gone With The Wind" Hit Stores

After a very impressive box office run, the J.J. Abrams-directed "Star Trek" will make its way to both standard DVD and Blu-ray this week and should have a great deal of appeal for both rentals and purchases. Recently, there have been new special edition releases of classics such as "The Wizard of Oz" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," and this week, "Gone With the Wind" gets the special edition treatment.

Pixar's "UP" And "The Ugly Truth" Hit DVD This Week

Animation studio Pixar's latest release "Up" launches on DVD this week, just a few weeks before the holiday shopping rush starts. Romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth" also follows up a substantial box office run and should do equally as well in the home market. An impressive set of popular older titles are also getting released this week on Blu-ray, from the recent crime/thriller "Heat" to the classic silent film "The General."

"G.I. Joe" And "The Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3" Get Released On DVD

"G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" is the most noteworthy release on standard DVD and Blu-ray this week amidst a series of titles that performed poorly at the box office. The Denzel Washington starring remake "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" also hits the home market this week, as it attempts to reach its intended adult demographic better than it did in theaters.

"Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs" Should Continue To Roll On DVD

After turning in one of the most impressive box office performances of the year thus far, animated "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" hits standard DVD and Blu-ray this week, facing limited competition within the family demographic. Also getting released is Woody Allen's latest comedy "Whatever Works" as well as horror film "Orphan."
