(RTTNews) -  Colonial BancGroup, Inc. (CNB) reported a net loss of $605.7 million or $3.02 per share, compared to a net loss of $774.0 million or $3.89 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Net interest income for the second quarter was $117.5 million, compared to $235.3 million a year earlier. Provision for loan losses for the quarter was $294.1 million, compared to $551.3 million last year.
Non-interest income for the second quarter fell to $53.3 million from $102.9 million in the prior year quarter.
