(RTTNews) -  AngloGold Ashanti (AU: News ) reported third quarter loss attributable to equity shareholders of US$1.04 billion or 289 cents per share, compared to net income attributable to equity shareholders of US$51 million or 15 cents per share last year.

Loss after taxation from continuing operations was US$1.03 billion, compared to profit after taxation from continuing operations of US$57 million in the same quarter last year.

Revenue grew to US$1.14 billion from US$930 million in the year earlier quarter.
Production rose 5% to 1.187 million ounces in the three months through to the end of September, broadly in line with the company's guidance for the period.
