(RTTNews) -  Tuesday, Pioneer Natural Resources Co. (PXD: News ) reported a third-quarter net loss attributable to common stockholders of $7.2 million or $.06 per share, compared to a loss of $5.2 million or $0.04 per share in the same quarter last year.

On an adjusted basis, net income for the quarter was $3 million or $.02 per share.

On average, 20 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.07 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenue for the quarter was $410.1 million, down from $602.9 million in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report revenue of $400.08 million for the quarter.
