(RTTNews) -  Hornbeck Offshore Services Inc. (HOS: News ) reported third quarter net income $13.8 million, or $0.51 per diluted share, compared to $33.3 million, or $1.23 per diluted share for the year-ago quarter.

On average, 9 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.50 per share for the quarter.

Quarterly revenues decreased 17.4% to $90.1 million from $109.1 million in the prior year. Analysts estimated revenues of $92.11 million for the quarter.
The company now expects full-year diluted earnings per share for fiscal 2009 to range between $1.63 and $1.97. Excluding items, adjusted earnings for fiscal 2009 is now expected to be in the range of $2.36 - $2.70.

Earlier, the company predicted full-year earnings per share to be in the range of $2.03 - $2.49 and estimated excluding items, adjusted earnings for fiscal 2009 in the range of $2.76 - $3.22. Analysts estimate earnings of $2.68 per share for fiscal 2009.
