(RTTNews) -  Energy Transfer Partners L.P. (ETP: News ) announced that its third-quarter net loss for the Limited Partner was $16.47 million or $0.10 per limited partner unit, compared to profit of $140.80 million or $0.94 per limited partner unit in the year ago quarter.

Net income for the quarter totaled $72.5 million, a decrease of $148.6 million from the three months ended September 30, 2008. The decreases in these metrics between the periods were primarily attributable to the impacts of lower natural gas prices and weaker price differentials mainly across Texas.

Total revenues for the quarter declined to $1.13 billion, from $2.21 billion in the year ago quarter.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.33 per share on revenues of $1.45 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
