Boeing Co. (BA:
News ) announced that it towed the first 747-8 Freighter out of the factory in Everett, Washington, today afternoon. The company noted that the airplane, destined for Cargolux, will be painted and begin preparations for flight test.
The company specified that 747-8 Freighter is 250 feet, 2 inches long, which is 18 feet and 4 inches longer than the 747-400 Freighter.
Boeing said it has secured 105 orders for the 747-8, 78 of which are orders for the new freighter.
In a statement issued earlier in the evening, Boeing announced that it has completed installing reinforcements within the side-of-body section on the first 787 Dreamliner.
