(RTTNews) -  American Italian Pasta Co. (AIPC: News ) reported a rise in fourth-quarter 2009 net income to $15.8 million or $0.73 per share from $7.3 million or $0.36 per share prior year. On average, 7 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.68 for the quarter. Analysts' estimate typically excludes one-time items.

The company announced 2009 net income of $88.29 million or $4.10 per share compared with 2008 income of $19.11 million or $0.99 per share.
Total revenues for the 53-week year increased 10% to $628.2 million, led by a 17% increase in revenue growth in the retail market, offset by an 8% decline in the institutional market.
