General Motors (GMGMQ.PK:
News ) may file for an initial public offering of its stock in 2010. GM was in bankruptcy court on July 1 seeking approval to sell most of its assets to the Treasury, which is paying for the company with the more than $27 billion in loans it has made to the automaker.
The auto maker, which entered Chapter 11 court protection on June 1, could emerge from bankruptcy majority owned by the U.S. government as early as this month.
