Stock Market Closes First Half Of 2012 With Big Gains

Wall Street joined markets abroad in welcoming news from europe, and posted sharp gains Friday. News that Eurozone leaders agreed, in principle, on a plan to stabilize the region's baniks boosted markets there and in the U.S. elsewhere, the brother of convicted Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff pleaded guilty to two counts for his role in the case and faces a 10 year prison sentence. Commodity prices also rose sharply.
