The majors are kicking off the session in the red. Investors are cautious ahead of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s testimony on Capitol Hill. According to the National Association of Home Builders, housing starts rose 6.9% percent last month, coming in at the highest level since October, 2008. Meanwhile, US mortgage applications skyrocketed last week as homeowners took advantage of record low rates to refinance. Bank of America and Intel headline a busy earnings slate.
