Bernanke Overshadows Data Tuesday (2:41)

Testimony from Fed Chair Ben Bernanke overshadowed a batch of better than expected economic reports. Bernanke defended the central bank's bond-buying plan, saying that the benefits outweigh the possible costs. Sales of newly built homes surged 15.6% in January. Meanwhile, home prices rose at the fastest pace in 6-years during 2012. The Conference Board released a report showing an unexpected rebound in U.S. consumer confidence in February. In earnings, Macy's and Home Depot each beat the street
