(RTTNews) -
Two Pakistani nationals suspected of being involved in last November's terror attacks in the Indian western metropolis of Mumbai have been arrested in Italy, media reports said Saturday.
The father and son duo were arrested in an early morning raid in the northern city of Brescia in Italy. The arrests came just days before the first anniversary of the November 26 attacks.
The men are believed to have provided logistical support for the Mumbai terror attacks, carried out by 10 Pakistanis of that country's Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Islamic terrorist group, that left 183 persons, including many foreign nationals, dead, and over 283 others injured. Nine of the terrorists were killed and one captured alive.
The pair managed a money transfer agency and used it to send funds for the attacks. The money was used to pay for an internet phone account used by people in contact with the attackers. The two men are accused of aiding and abetting as well as illegal financial activity.
Stefano Fonzi, the head of anti-terror police in Brescia said Italian police began the probe in December after being alerted by the U.S. investigative agency, the FBI, that the money for the attacks had been sent from Italy.
