Canada's Current Account Surplus Widens More Than Expected in Second Quarter
Canada's current account surplus widened more than forecast in the second quarter, bolstered by higher prices for energy and other exported commodities.
According to data released Thursday morning by Statistics Canada, the trade surplus expanded to $6.8 billion, with higher prices for several exported commodities pushing the goods surplus to $16.4 billion.

UK Consumer Confidence Up To -36 in August - GfK
An index measuring consumer confidence in Great Britain saw a surprise gain in August, research firm GfK NOP said on Friday, climbing to a reading of -36.
That's up from the record low score of -39 posted in July, and it beat handily analyst expectations of a reading of -41. It marks the first improvement in the index since January.
