Britney Spears asked a Los Angeles judge to add her fiancé, Jason Trawick, to the list of her conservators, which also includes her father.
The judge is currently mulling the decision which would place Trawick in charge of the pop singer's finances. The move would mark the beginning of a gradual transfer back to Spears, who lost control of them during her public breakdown of 2008.
Attorney Jeffrey S. Cohen, speaking with People magazine, said the move could be "a sign that the couple's wedding is around the corner."
"This is probably a compromise between Britney, her father and Trawick to get the marriage off on the right foot. Obviously, her future husband needs to have a say in her well-being," Cohen added.
Spears and Trawick have been dating since 2009 and announced in December that they are engaged.
