Earnings Watch For May 8 (DIS, DTV, TAP, OMX, WEN)

Diversified media and entertainment conglomerate Walt Disney Co. (DIS) is expected to report results for the second quarter. The company is expected to earn $0.55 per share on revenues of $9.56 billion, while in the year-ago quarter, earnings and revenue were $0.49 per share and $9.08 billion respectively. The shares closed Monday at $43.82. (The stock up about 17% in Q2; MA(50)- $42.81; MA(100)- $40.95; 52-wk H/L $44.50/$28.19)

DIRECTV, Inc. (DTV) is due to post first-quarter results. The satellite television company is expected to record earnings of $1.06 per share versus $0.85 per share last year, on revenues of $7.06 billion. Shares of DTV closed Monday's trade at $47.90. (The stock rose almost 15% in Q1; MA(50)- $48.10; MA(100)- $46.13; 52-wk H/L $53.40/$39.82)

Molson Coors Brewing Co. (TAP) is scheduled to report first-quarter results. The company is expected to post earnings of $0.42 per share, lower than the year-ago quarter's $0.43 per share. Also, the company is anticipated to generate revenues of $703.83 million compared to $690.40 million in the prior-year quarter. The company's shares closed Monday's session at $42.04. (The stock gained nearly 5% in Q1; MA(50)- $42.60; MA(100)- $43.07; 52-wk H/L $47.06/$37.99)

OfficeMax Inc. (OMX) is slated to report results for the first quarter. Earnings and revenue for the quarter are expected to be $0.16 per share and $1.87 billion respectively. In the same quarter a year earlier, the provider of office supplies, technology and services posted earnings of $0.13 per share on revenues of $1.86 billion. The stock closed Monday at $4.40. (The stock up about 26% in Q1; MA(50)- $5.23; MA(100)- $5.22; 52-wk H/L $9.65/$3.90)

Wendy's Co. (WEN) will post first-quarter results today. Earnings for the quarter are expected to grow to $0.03 per share from $0.02 per share in the previous year. Besides, the fast food chain is anticipated to record revenues of $608.42 million, a decline from last year's $847.82 million. The company's shares closed Monday's regular trading at $4.87. (The stock down about 6% in Q1; MA(50)- $4.92; MA(100)- $5.05; 52-wk H/L $5.62/$4.29)

Blue Nile Inc. (NILE), Chiquita Brands International Inc. (CQB), Kinross Gold Corp. (KGC), Openwave Systems Inc. (OPWV), Protective Life Corp. (PL), XL Group Plc (XL), W&T Offshore Inc. (WTI), E. W. Scripps Co. (SSP), Pioneer Drilling Co. (PDC) and Tenet Healthcare Corp. (THC) are also scheduled to report their results today.
