Avis Budget Group, Inc. (CAR: Quote) is due to report results for the second quarter. The company is expected to earn $0.70 per share on revenues of $1.91 billion. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported earnings of $0.63 per share on revenues of $1.41 billion. The shares closed Tuesday at $14.37. U.S. life insurer MetLife, Inc. (MET: Quote) is scheduled to post second-quarter results. Quarterly earnings and revenue are expected to be $1.25 per share and $16.98 billion respectively. Last year, the company earned $1.24 per share on revenues of $16.88 billion. Shares of MET closed Tuesday's trade at $30.77. Comcast Corp. (CMCSA: Quote) is expected to report second-quarter results. The company is expected to post earnings of $0.48 per share, higher than $0.42 per share reported a year earlier. Further, the cable giant is anticipated to generate revenues of $15.20 billion compared to $14.33 billion in the prior-year quarter. The company's shares closed Tuesday's session at $32.55. (The stock gained nearly 8% in Q2; MA(50)- $30.77; MA(100)- $30.20; 52-wk H/L $32.78/$19.19)

Credit and debit card payment processor Mastercard Inc. (MA: Quote) will report second-quarter results today. Earnings for the quarter are expected to grow to $5.58 per share from $4.76 per share reported a year ago, with revenues estimated at $1.88 billion. The stock closed Tuesday at $436.57. Time Warner Inc. (TWX: Quote) is slated to report results for the second quarter. The media and entertainment giant is expected to report a profit of $0.58 per share compared to $0.60 per share last year, on revenues of $6.94 billion. The stock closed Tuesday at $39.12. (The stock up about 3% in Q2; MA(50)- $36.84; MA(100)- $36.59; 52-wk H/L $39.49/$27.62)

Devon Energy Corp. (DVN: Quote) is due to report second-quarter results. Earnings and revenue for the quarter are expected to be $0.81 per share and $2.38 billion respectively. In the previous year, the company earned $1.71 per share on revenues of $3.22 billion. On Tuesday, the shares closed trade at $59.12. (The stock down about 18% in Q2; MA(50)- $57.88; MA(100)- $63.23; 52-wk H/L $77.17/$50.74)

Data-storage products maker NetApp Inc. said Tuesday after the markets closed that its fourth quarter profit fell 4% from last year, hurt mainly by higher operating expenses even as revenue grew slightly. However, the company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, came in above analysts' expectations, but its quarterly revenue fell short of analysts' forecast. Analog Devices, Inc. said that its second quarter profit rose slightly from last year, helped mainly by lower income tax expenses even as revenue declined 2%. The company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, came in line with analysts' expectations. However, the company forecast third quarter revenue and earnings below analysts' current consensus estimates. While buying interest was relatively subdued, stocks moved modestly higher over the course of the trading day on Tuesday. The strength on the day offset the weakness seen in the previous session, with the Dow and the S&P 500 reaching new record closing highs. The major averages gave back some ground in late-day trading but remained in positive territory.
