MEXICO: Country Cancels Aid To Texas After Being Hit By Quake And Hurricane

(Agencia CMA Latam) - The Mexican government told the Texas and the United States federal government that it would not be able to provide the aid originally offered in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Mexico's announcement came only a few days after the country was hit by an 8.2 earthquake that killed 95 people in the Mexican states of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Tabasco. The quake added to the impact of Hurricane Katia.

Mexico "will channel all available logistical support to serve the families and communities affected in the country," said the Presidency in a statement.

Once the news about Harvey was known, the Mexican government offered Texas and the U.S. government help and collaboration that different Mexican government agencies could provide to address the hurricane impact.
