At least seven people have been shot dead and twelve others injured in a shooting incident at the Fort Hood military U.S. military base in Texas on Thursday, according to officials and local reports.
Local reports indicated that two people in uniforms carried out the shooting at the base. Reports quoting unnamed officials said one of the suspects have been arrested, while another armed with a high-powered sniper rifle is still at large.
It is still not clear whether those killed in the shooting were military personnel or civilians. It, however, is understood that the shooting took place at a training center at the base, located near the town of Killeen.
Though officials have confirmed the incident on condition of anonymity, the U.S. military is yet to release the details of the shooting. Several ambulances and police cars were seen rushing to the Fort Hood base, which is said to be the largest U.S. military base in the world.
