Alicia Keys is speaking out against the rumors that she will retire at the end of this year. The singer, who turned 29 today, once made comments that she would like the option of retiring when she hits 30.
In a recent interview with British TV host Jonathan Ross, however, Keys reassured fans that she has no plans to hang it up, stating that her comments were taken out of context.
"I was just saying that I would like the option to be able to retire by 30," she clarified to Ross. "I feel very blessed . . . but I definitely have so much more to do. I have so many things that I want to do, so many more things I want to get involved in, important things I want to do . . . I have to perform, I love it so much."
Keys also wants to work on some unexpected collaborations over the next year. In a recent interview on British radio, the singer said she'd love to team up with Prince or even write with Nashville alt-rockers Kings of Leon.
"Working with other people is definitely something I want to do more of," she said of her recent trend towards collaboration. "I love it a lot. It takes me out of my element into a whole other world. I'd love to collaborate with Kings of Leon and M.I.A. I think would be crazy."
