Scholastic Corp.'s (SCHL), in a filing, disclosed that, on February 18th, Ramon Cortines advised the board of his decision to resign as a director, effective February 19, 2010.
Cortines, who first became a director in 1995, determined to resign as a director in order to avoid any perception of a conflict of interest in the context of his current role as the Superintendent of the Los Angeles, California, Unified School District.
The company added that it is deeply appreciative of the counsel provided by Cortines over the years in his role as a director.
