Beyoncé has confirmed that "Countdown" will serve as her new single. It is the third single off of her platinum-selling release 4.

"Countdown" was co-written and co-produced by Beyoncé herself and features a sample of Boyz II Men's 1991 hit "Uhh Ahh." The song will be released to radio in the U.S. on October 4. It is the latest single to be taken off of 4, following her debut single "Run the World (Girls)," which peaked at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Best Thing I Ever Had," which made its way to number 16.

A music video for the single is thought to have already been filmed and was directed by Adria Petty, who previously worked with Beyoncé on the clip for "Sweet Dreams."
