The Swiss stock market is showing mild weakness in mid-day trading on Wednesday.

Shares had advanced early in the session, but have drifted into negative territory. A lack of corporate news has contributed to directionless trading. The market has seen light volume on the day, as investors wait for more information before making their next moves.

The benchmark SMI has fallen 0.07 percent to 6,264.73. The SLI is down 0.19 percent to 959.57. The SPI has retreated 0.14 percent to 5,741.62.

Nestle is a drag on the SMI. Shares are down 0.6 percent after UBS lowered its rating on the stock to Neutral from Buy.

The financial sector is mixed. UBS is down 1.2 percent, but Julius Baer is showing a gain of 0.3 percent.
