RPower Commissions Final Unit Of Rosa Power Project

Reliance Power Ltd., or RPower, announced that its 1200 MW Rosa Thermal Power Project in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was now fully operational, with the commissioning of fourth and last unit of the project.

With the commissioning of the second unit of Phase 2, the Rosa Project, has been completed four months ahead of schedule. Te project was scheduled to be completed in July this year, the company said.

Final 300 MW unit of Rosa Project was synchronized and achieved full load on March 28. Immediately after the successful completion of 72 hours full load test, the Date of Commercial Operation or CoD of Unit-4 of Rosa Project was declared on March 31. Earlier, Unit-3 of the project was also brought online in December 2011, three months in advance, compared to scheduled implementation in March 2012.

Rosa Power Project is the first independent thermal power project in North India to be brought online and represents the larges- ever private sector investment in Uttar Pradesh with an investment outlay of over Rs.6,000 crore. The project is consistently operating at above 95 percent plant load factor (PLF) and ranks among top three private power plant in India and features in the list of top 10 plants among all the power plant of the country in terms of high availability and PLF.

The company the Rosa Power Project would supply its full capacity to the State of Uttar Pradesh, adding that the project would contribute for over 15 percent of the state's total energy requirement and would light up around 30 lakh households of the power starved state.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO J.P. Chalasani said, "Rosa occupies a special place in Reliance Power's portfolio as it is the first operating power plant of the company."

At the BSE, Reliance Power closed Monday's trading at Rs.122.30, up 4.62 percent from the previous close.
