Chyler Leigh (Lexie) and Kim Raver (Teddy) were both written out of Thursday, May 17th's episode of "Grey's Anatomy."
In the episode, Lexie passed after having much of her body pinned beneath the wreckage of an airplane. She and Mark (Eric Dane) shared a tear-laden goodbye.
"I love you," confessed Mark for the first and last time. "I've always been in love with you. I will always be in love with you."
Teddy's departure involved no fatality: she was fired by Owen, forcing her to take a job at a military hospital.
"This finale was incredibly hard to write. I did not enjoy it. It made me sick and it made me sad. We end the season not knowing ANYTHING about the future," tweeted showrunner Shonda Rhimes after the episode aired.
Season 9 of "Grey's Anatomy" debuts on ABC in September of 2012.
