Shiner International Inc. (BEST) reported first-quarter net loss of $0.6 million, compared to net income of $1.0 million in the same period of 2011. Loss per share for the quarter were $0.02, compared to earnings of $0.04 per share for the same period of 2011.
Total revenue for the quarter were $17.4 million, an increase of 9.2% compared to total revenue of $15.9 million in the prior year quarter. This increase was mainly attributable to an increase sales in BOPP film and advanced film. BOPP tobacco revenue increased 24.9%, or $2.0 million, in the three months ended March 31, 2012 to $10.0 million as compared to $8.0 million for the same period in 2011, which is benefited from the operation of our new BOPP tobacco film line resulting in better quality and powerful competitiveness.
