J.P. Morgan, the investment banking arm of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM), said Wednesday that Joseph Walker is rejoining the firm as a vice chairman of investment banking.
Walker's first J.P. Morgan career spanned 22 years with early assignments in South Korea and Japan. From 1989 to 1997, while based in New York, he helped build the firm's mergers and acquisitions franchise, which he ran as co-head for three years. From 1998 to 2000 Walker was also global head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications Investment Banking.
After leaving J.P. Morgan in 2001, Walker became a senior advisor to General Motors Corp., working on an array of corporate finance, capital budgeting, and restructuring issues related to GM's automotive businesses including, Hughes, Fiat, Isuzu, GMAC and Onstar, as well as the divestiture of Direct TV.
Walker later co-founded KW Advisors, an advisory partnership, and became a strategic advisor to companies in various industries, including Dana Holdings Corp. as it went through a comprehensive turnaround.
