Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ONXX) gapped open higher Friday and climbed in early trade, but was halted late in the morning. Shares surged higher in the early afternoon, after trading resumed, and finished up by 7.98 at $76.38 on above average volume.
Onyx Pharmaceuticals broke out of a one-month range and set a new high for the year. The company announced around midday that the FDA granted accelerated approval of Kyprolis for Injection, a proteasome inhibitor, indicated for the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma.
