Earlier this week, Chevrolet announced that its two models, Sonic and Spark, will feature integration with Apple's Siri digital assistant. The company will be the first to integrate the feature into their cars. The models will both comes equipped with a button on the steering wheel that will activate Siri when clicked.

According to Apple's press release, devices will require IOS6 to use this feature. The technology uses Bluetooth and goes ahead to pair the user's iPhone with the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system present in the car.

Users can request Siri to perform a variety of tasks while they focus on driving safely. The technology goes beyond hands free and uses an "eyes free" mode to allow users to interact with their iPhone using nothing but their voice by keeping the device's screen from lighting up.

With the new technology, users can make voice-activated, hands-free calls to Contacts on their iPhone, play songs from their iPhone, listen to and compose text messages, access and create calendar appointments and even get responses to simple questions. However, the technology won't answer complex questions that require it to activate the phone's screen and in turn distract the driver.

Both models come with six months of OnStar's premium Directions and Connections service, which provides added safety, security and connectivity. They come with services like automatic crash response, stolen vehicle assistance, vehicle diagnostics and roadside assistance.
