ITunes 11 Released

Itunes 113012

Apple debuted iTunes 11 yesterday after a month long delay. The Apple music player features a slick visual redesign that resembles Apple's iOS software. Other features in iTunes 11 include deeper integration with Apple's iCloud service, a new "up next" song feature, redesigned storefronts, and a revamped mini player that lets you search for songs, albums, and artists without going back to the full view.

The original release date for iTunes 11 was scheduled for October, but was delayed a month due to engineering issues that required parts to be rebuilt, the Wall St. Journal revealed in a profile Apple's senior VP of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue.

Apple's last major iTunes edition, iTunes 10, was released in September 2010, which featured the social networking feature Ping. Since its initial release of the digital music store nine years ago, more than 20 billion songs have been purchased.
