Jackson Browne has called for the release of Native American activist Leonard Peltier, who has been jailed for 37 years after being convicted of killing two FBI officers during an Indian Reservation shootout.
Unless President Barack Obama commutes his sentence, Peltier, 70, will serve time through 2040. He maintains that he was framed by the FBI for the deaths of Jack Coler and Ronald Williams, the two federal agents.
Browne took the stage with Bruce Cockburn for their 1991 hit "Indian Wars," and followed the performance with a tribute to his Native American friend, the late Floyd Westerman, with covers of "Boarding School Blues" and "Custer Died For Your Sins."
He wrapped the set with a cover of Steven Van Zandt's track "I Am a Patriot."
