"Pirate Flag!" the first single from Kenny Chesney's upcoming to-be-titled album, will be released at midnight January 31.
Written by David Lee Murphy and Ross Copperman, it's an anthem that rebels against the mundane "9-to-5," Chesney tells theboot.com:
"No matter how you live, there is that part of you that yearns to be free, to say, 'What the hell?' and just do what you want to do! That's what this song is all about."
"You can just say, 'Enough,' even if it's only in your mind, while you're watching your boss' mouth move and are dreaming of whatever gets you off . . . You can fly your pirate flag in your head . . . and no one has to know."
Chesney's upcoming album is the follow-up to last year's Welcome to the Fishbowl; it's due April 30 via Blue Chair/Columbia Nashville Records label.
