Romania's producer prices increased notably from last year in December, data released by the National Institute of Statistics showed Monday.
The producer price index for both the domestic and foreign markets increased 4.9 percent on an annual basis in December, driven mainly by a 5.64 percent gain in manufacturing prices.
Production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning were higher by 2.4 percent compared to December 2011, while mining and quarrying production decreased 0.71 percent.
On a monthly basis, the producer price index decreased 0.2 percent in December, after falling 0.9 percent in November, data showed.
