Australia will on Monday release December figures for home loans, highlighting a very light day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.

Home loans are expected to be flat on month after falling 0.5 percent in November. The value of loans was up 0.6 percent in the previous month, while investment lending dropped 3.3 percent.

Most of the regional bourses are closed for the Lunar New Year holiday, including South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

South Korea, Japan and the Philippines return to trade on Tuesday, while Singapore and Malaysia come back on Wednesday. Hong Kong returns to action on Thursday, while China and Taiwan are off until next Monday.
