Lithuania's Inflation Eases In January

Lithuania's annual inflation decelerated in January after holding steady in the previous month, data released by the Department of Statistics showed Thursday.

Inflation as per the consumer price index weakened to 2.6 percent in January from 2.8 percent in December, which was unchanged from the month prior to that.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages advanced 2.8 percent annually, and clothing and footwear prices moved up 4.6 percent. Transportation costs were higher by 1.8 percent compared to last year, and housing costs and utility prices by 3.6 percent.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index edged up 0.2 percent in January, reversing the previous month's 0.1 percent decline, data showed.
