Police are treating the death of 14-year-old Red Bluff, California girl as a homicide. Red Bluff Police Chief Paul Nanfito spoke on the Marysa Nichols' death earlier this week after they recovered her remains new Red Bluff High School.
In an official statement he revealed that her body was discovered in a creek near the school by members of the Tehama Inter-Agency SWAT team. Marysa was reported missing by her parents after she failed to return home after leaving to meet friends Tuesday night, reports the San Francisco Gate.
Nanfito declined to issue and news on cause of death:
"Based upon the scene we have determined that this is a homicide investigation. Our investigation is continuing and an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2013. Utilizing photographs as well as specific items at the crime scene we have identified the victim as Marysa Nichols," he explained in an official press conference.
