Romania Industrial Production Rises 5.7% In January

Romania's industrial production increased from last year in January, data released by the National Institute of Statistics showed Wednesday.

Industrial production, on an unadjusted basis, increased 5.7 percent on an annual basis in January, the agency said.

Mining and quarrying production advanced 6 percent from a year earlier, while manufacturing output rose 6.6 percent. Meanwhile, production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning dropped by 0.3 percent compared to last year.

Among the main industrial groups, production of capital good and intermediate goods advanced 8.6 percent and 3.8 percent respectively from a year earlier. Durable goods production climbed 5.5 percent annually, while energy output decreased by 0.2 percent.

Compared to December, industrial output advanced a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent in January, data showed.
