European Economics Preview: BoE Minutes, U.K. Jobless Claims Due

The minutes of the Bank of England's monetary policy meeting and the U.K.'s jobless claims are due on Wednesday.

At 3.00 am ET, Destatis is slated to release producer prices for February. German producer price inflation is forecast to slow to 1.5 percent from 1.7 percent in January.

At 4.55 am ET, the Iceland central bank is scheduled to announce its interest rate decision. The bank is expected to retain the rate at 6 percent.

At 5.00 am ET, the Eurozone current account figures for January are due from the European Central Bank. The current account surplus totaled EUR 27 billion in December.

Half an hour later, the Bank of England is set to release the minutes of the monetary policy meeting held on March 6 and 7.

In the meantime, the U.K. labor market statistics is due. The number of people claiming jobseekers' allowances is expected to fall 5,000 in February compared to last month's 12,500 decrease. The ILO jobless rate is seen at 7.8 percent during three months to January.

At 8.30 am ET, UK Chancellor George Osborne will present 2013 budget in Parliament. As the budget comes after the country lost its coveted triple A rating, he is under immense pressure to cut spending despite economic downturn.

The Chancellor told ministers to find a GBP 2.5 billion of savings over the coming two years to fund infrastructure projects.
