Indonesia's trade deficit widened in February, the latest figures from Statistics Indonesia showed Monday.
The shortfall rose to $330 million in February from $75 million deficit recorded in January. The statistical agency said that exports rose 4.5 percent year-on-year to $14.99 billion last month. Meanwhile, imports rose 3.03 percent year-on-year to $15.32 billion.
Separately, a private survey of the country's manufacturing sector showed that operating conditions across the industry has improved moderately in March.
Markit Economics said Monday that the headline Markit/HSBC purchasing managers' index, that measures the performance of the factory sector, rose to 51.3 in March from 50.5 in February. This was the highest reading in four months.
New orders placed with Indonesian manufacturers rose for a tenth consecutive month supported by stronger domestic and foreign demand, according to the survey.
