Chicago Man Arrested For Trying To Sell Alligator On Craigslist

A Chicago man was arrested on Monday for allegedly trying to sell an alligator on Craigslist.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Juan A. DeJesus, 19, was charged on Monday with one count of misdemeanor possession of wildlife, according to local authorities.

Before the ad was pulled from the website, it was posted as saying, "Baby gator for sale, id consider a trade for a leachie gecko. Sale price is 300 obo asap."

On Monday, an officer with the state Department of Natural Resources responded to the ad and went to DeJesus' home pretending to purchase the alligator. When Delesus came out of his home with the animal, the officer identified himself and informed him of the crime.

Delesus was arrested and taken to the Grand Central District police station for processing, while the alligator was taken to other IDNR agents.

Delesus is scheduled to appear in court at the end of May.
