According to the latest update from the World Health Organization regarding human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus in China, a total of 63 persons have been infected with the new strain of virus, including 14 deaths.
H7N9 is a bird flu virus, and this is for the first time that this subtype of the influenza virus has been found in people. No cases of H7N9 outside of China have been reported and there is no evidence of ongoing human-to-human transmission.
Currently there is no vaccine to prevent influenza A (H7N9) infections.
